We seek to appoint a qualified and self-motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct nutritional research with ruminant animals. The position is located at The Pennsylvania State University, Department of Animal Science, University Park campus. The candidate will lead research related to investigating the effects of nutritional strategies on animal physiology and health, productivity, and environmental emissions of ruminants, with emphasis on lactating dairy cows. The Postdoctoral Scholar will design and lead a series of in vitro and in vivo experiments with dairy cattle and small ruminants, carry out samples and data analyses, and will write scientific reports. The candidate will also be responsible for database assembly, processing, and statistical analysis. Successful candidates are expected to be able to design and conduct in vitro, in situ, and in vivo experiments, conduct feed and other laboratory analyses, use greenhouse gas measurement equipment and laboratory analytical instrumentation, and have experience with data handling and analysis. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Animal/Dairy Science or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire. A strong publication record that demonstrates extensive experience with ruminant/dairy nutrition, physiology, and database processing and statistical analysis.
