Description

The EPISCenter, a project of the Prevention Research Center at Penn State University, is seeking applicants for the position of a Coalition and Evidence-based Prevention Systems Change Specialist. The Systems Change Specialist will support our work of delivering technical assistance to community prevention coalitions or teams, organizations, communities, and schools throughout Pennsylvania as they implement coalition-driven evidence-based approaches to preventing delinquency and substance use. The position will provide support to a broad range of community coalition models participating in the newly funded “Coalition Check-Up” research project funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Technical assistance and support will cover coalition capacity in process and structure, such as communications, decision-making procedures, delegation/involvement of members, cohesion, coalition composition, and collaborative structure. Successful candidates should be pro-active, self-directed, and able to adjust priorities and focus as organizational needs change. Resourcefulness, creativity, and commitment to excellence are essential. Familiarity and experience with any combination of the following is desired: community prevention coalitions; needs assessment and data-driven strategic planning; evidence-based programming, including implementation quality and fidelity, sustainability; substance use and metal heath prevention or treatment program implementation; visual displays of information such as graphical interfaces embedded in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, or Google Data Studio crafting compelling print and media products for communications; electronic data collection tools such as Qualtrics or REDCap. The position is based at the EPISCenter’s University Park/State College location and will require travel throughout Pennsylvania, although rarely overnight. Relocation support is not available for this position. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in prevention, public health, education, human services or a related field is strongly preferred. Coalition leadership experience preferred. Must have experience working with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
