Peer Mentors are responsible for working with individual students who are a part of Pathway to Success: Summer Start Program (PaSSS Program). The primary responsibility of all Peer Mentors is the mentorship and role modeling of any student in the PaSSS Program, especially those students specifically assigned to each Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors will be responsible for guiding their mentees towards success in their first year at Penn State Abington. Position Commitment: Peer Mentors will be required to participate in recruitment of PaSSS participants and training throughout Spring 2020. They will also be required to lead check-in meetings/training sessions that will be scheduled two days a week during Summer 2020 (starting 6/29 – ending 8/12), and at least four times a semester during Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Qualifications: You must have a cumulative GPA of a 2.5 and demonstrate enthusiasm about being a student leader and mentor in the PaSSS Program. Skills Required: Strong interpersonal skills, clear and consistent communication, empathetic listener, good problem-solving skills, computer literacy, ability to multi-task, effective in a team environment, respect confidentiality, patience, creative thinker, and excellent time management skills.
