The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) is a research administration unit that is part of the Office of the Vice President for Research. The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research is responsible for facilitating the $968-million-per-year research enterprise at Penn State by working with a broad range of units across the University. The mission of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research is to support a rigorous program of faculty and student research and creative accomplishment by enhancing the environment for scholarly and artistic endeavors, encouraging the highest standards of quality, and fostering ethical conduct in research. SIRO’s mission is to provide direct support for strategic multi-college and multi-institutional research efforts. The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office is seeking a self-motivated, analytical, and organized professional to serve as a Training Grants and Fellowships Developer. This position supports faculty and administrators across the University in coordinating the development, submission, and renewal of training and fellowship grants for various sponsors, such as National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD) and National Science Foundation (NSF). This position’s primary responsibilities are twofold: 1) completion of proposal documents, data analytics, and reporting required for training grant proposals, and 2) project management and development support. The position requires an individual to have experience with technical communication, collection and organization of datasets, data analysis, and proposal developed. The Developer will provide direct guidance and strategies to participating faculty, students/postdocs and administrators regarding proposal development. This position will also provide project management services to all the teams. The Developer will participate in planning meetings, seminars, and outreach for faculty and staff. He/she will be expected to maintain and advance institutional knowledge through participation in extramural professional development activities. This position will engage in all aspects of grant management to ensure that training grant submissions adhere to regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Candidate will also serve as a liaison with the Graduate School and the HILS. Typically requires a M.S. degree or higher with 4+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Preferred Education, Experience, or Certifications: Experience working with datasets and data analytics is essential; Related experience working in research administration or a graduate program setting preferred; The abilities to multitask, meet deadlines, write clearly and respond professionally are essential; Knowledge of MS Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Experience working with Access, iTwo, and LionPATH is preferred.
