The Fiber Optics and Photonics Department of the Electro-Optics Center of the Applied Research Laboratory, located in Freeport, PA is seeking undergraduate and graduate students for intensive summer research opportunities. These opportunities cover a broad range of academic and engineering disciplines in many aspects of imaging, optics, lasers, remote sensing and materials. Specifically, this assignment involves manufacturing processes for Department of Defense platforms, specialty fiber design, sensors and sensor networks, network architectures, and remote source lighting. New initiatives include photonic circuit integration, network edge architectures (WiFi and LiFi), optical communication links, non-electrical topside (NET), and hybrid integration. Rising seniors and graduate students studying Electrical Engineering, Imaging Science, Optics, or related field, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work up to 40 hours per week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at ARL’s Electro-Optics Center, located in Freeport, PA; relocation and housing are not provided. Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
