Description

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth Center (SAFE-T Center) at Penn State University was launched with support from the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime as a solution to enhance access to high quality sexual assault care in under-served communities. When a sexual assault examination is performed at one of our partner hospitals, one of SAFE-T Center’s expert nurses participates through Telehealth. The expert nurse appears on a screen where she can talk to, and support, both the on-site nurse and the patient. Though our specialized digital telehealth technology, she can also see the live exam in progress, ensuring best practices, proper evidence collection and a safe, helpful environment for the patient. The SAFE-T Center is pushing the boundaries for IT/Telehealth technology in the field of sexual assault care and building custom systems responsive to the need for innovation and fiscal responsibility that will allow this unique program to exist wherever it may be needed. Duties include leading the strategic and operational management of activities related to the development, implementation, and retention of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) within SAFE-T Center partner site communities. This includes establishing and maintaining communication with high-level interdisciplinary team members and serving as the liaison between the SAFE-T Center and these community partners. In addition, this person will lead public relations initiatives for stakeholders and key constituents through the coordination of special events such as biannual Statewide Advisory Board meetings, partner site launches, site revisits, celebrations, and other affairs. Interfacing with legislative and other government officials to aid in working toward a sustainability plan will also be a charge of this position. Higher level position will require the candidate to develop and manage marketing and communications campaigns, evaluate and prioritize internal and external requests, and assist in interviewing, selecting, and training staff. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to support the overall SAFE-T Center mission, as this position is one of the core team members. This job will be filled as a level 2 or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Additional education and experience preferred. Knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word preferred. The Project Outreach Coordinator position requires an exceptional individual who is able to develop and nurture relationships with project partners, is dedicated to high quality work, has the ability to independently assess project needs, and is proactive about developing innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a field providing support to survivors of sexual assault, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, ability to learn and navigate new technologies quickly, and enjoy taking on new challenges and the flexibility to be creative. This position requires the ability to tackle assignments independently while seeking appropriate feedback and guidance along the way. Position will require periodic travel to partner hospitals, community advocacy centers, and other multidisciplinary partner offices (all located within Pennsylvania). Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and transportation. This position is a vital part of the core SAFE-T Center team and the successful candidate will be expected to be a partner and team player in working to achieve SAFE-T Center goals. A passion and commitment toward serving survivors of sexual assault is essential. Salary is competitive, commensurate with background and experience. An attractive benefits package is available. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is identified. Candidates will need to upload a cover letter and resume or CV. Please also include list of references. This is a fixed-term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding based upon available funding.
