Penn State Harrisburg, a comprehensive college of The Pennsylvania State University, one of the largest and most widely recognized institutions in the nation, invites applications for the position of Field and Clinical Experiences Coordinator in Teacher Education. This is a part-time position in the Teacher Education Program in the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education. Specific duties associated with the position include the following: Arrange for all field placements for elementary candidates during their sixth semester EDUC 495A course, seventh semester EDUC 495B course, and serve as the instructor on record; Arrange for field placements for secondary candidates participating in EDUC 313; Arrange for all student-teaching placements for elementary and secondary non-residency candidates EDUC 490 course and serve as the instructor on record; Hire and train all university supervisors for residency and student-teaching observations; Coordinate with the Certification Officer to organize training sessions (including summer orientations) for mentor teachers and university supervisors; Be the point of contact for any student-teaching or field related issues or concerns regarding candidates; Participate in new candidate recruitment and related activities; Attend faculty meetings as needed for issues related to field or student teaching; Be the point of contact for all teacher education candidates to submit their clearances. Penn State Harrisburg is located in Middletown, near the city of Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania. We seek someone who can consistently build relationships with school districts and handle all the duties associated with student field placements. This person also must have a solid understanding of our Teacher Education Program and represent our program effectively. In addition, the ideal candidate must be accessible and supportive of students, organized, and a problem-solver, and have the skills to be an effective instructor of undergraduate students.
