Human Resources is looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual to join their Absence Management team. The HR Specialist is responsible for administering Leave of Absence (LOA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers’ Compensation (W/C), Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) for the University. This individual serves as a subject matter expert on University’s policies, Workers’ Compensation and disability and absence management. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and national requirements related to LOA, FMLA, W/C and disability, and recommend changes to current programs to ensure compliance, as appropriate. The Absence Management team serves as a key point of contact for employees requesting information about or currently covered by a form of Leave of Absence. The Specialist will coordinate with management and the HR Community, as needed, regarding issues related to pay, benefits during leave, return to work, work accommodations, etc. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This individual will have exceptional phone and customer service skills; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills; ability to prioritize appropriately and monitor deadlines.
