Description

Penn State Altoona seeks an Enrollment Services Specialist 3 (Admissions Counselor) to recruit students for the University and campus, maintain relationships with school counselors, participate in special visitation and recruitment programs for the campus, and regularly communicate with prospective students and applicants. Primary duties include: visiting high schools and participating in college fairs and transfer events, both in Pennsylvania and out-of-state; and participate in on-campus events, to present Penn State information to prospective students and their families. Position requires close attention to detail and utilizing student data bases to track applications and acceptances and to confirm eligibility. Position plays a crucial role in helping meet campus enrollment goals. Other responsibilities include providing intake services including: taking student/parent phone calls and responding to email; advise, counsel and provide information to prospective and current students on University programs and processes and as well as eligibility requirements for admission and/or financial aid; conduct individual appointments and group sessions with students and families; communicate with a wide variety of audiences internal and external to the University; serve on campus committees; and attend training and development for the Enrollment Management team. The candidate should expect to work some nights/weekends. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred, and previous experience with a university student information system, CRM (customer relationship management) system, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) is desirable. Successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to travel locally and out-of-state on behalf of the campus and University, and ability to work in a flexible, goal-oriented team environment. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. www.altoona.psu.edu
