Description

The Department of Biology is searching for a professional, detail-oriented Financial Assistant with strong interpersonal skills to fill the position as our Finance Manager. Position responsibilities include managing the daily operations of our Business Office; evaluating, supervising, and training financial assistants; including review, approval, processing and submittal of financial travel (ERS); and wage-payroll documents. This position has ultimate responsibility to ensure the accuracy of all financial-related documents and compliance to University, college, department and funding agency policies and guidelines. Monitor account balances and assist in resolving discrepancies, balancing budgets, forecasting expenses and projecting balances. Consult with the department’s Administrative Coordinator to determine efficient distribution of budget office workload responsibilities. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with IBIS, FIT, Workday and WorkLion is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with University budgets, including general funds, research grants, endowments, etc. Thorough understanding of Excel, Access, and other Mirosoft Office software is expected. This position requires a proven track record of discretion and reliability; the ability to successfully manage work flow and responsibilities among other staff, and to interact well with other staff, faculty, and the various constituencies of a large academic department with extensive funding; and the skills needed to process a large volume of work with accuracy and in a timely manner, while maintaining a pleasant, respectful, customer-friendly demeanor.
