Student-Athlete Welfare and Development (SWD) is committed to the holistic development of student-athletes, and will provide the education, resources, and opportunities that support learning and the development of essential life skills vital to student-athletes success at Penn State and beyond. SWD is accepting applications for the position of Student-Athlete Support Assistant (SASA). This position is designed for applicants interested in working in collegiate athletics, to gain valuable experience in a major Division I Athletics Program, working closely with athletic department and campus administration, campus resources, community partners, and student-athletes in their development as athletes, students, and most importantly, as world citizens. This is an hourly wage payroll position. Job responsibilities under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director and Director for SWD: Assist in the weekly administration of the Intercollegiate Athletics Mobile Technology Program (ICAMTP); assist in the weekly coordination and documentation of community service events/opportunities; assist in the management of SWD social media platforms (Twitter and Instagram); assist in the Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute; assist in SWD events/programs (New Student Orientations, Life Skills, Guest Speakers, etc.) Requirements: 20 hours per week for the entire academic year (fall and spring semesters, with the possibility of summer session II); must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; must have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); must have demonstrated knowledge of social media use and integration; must have demonstrated sensitivity/experience working with populations that reflect cultural, academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic diversity; must be able to work some evening and weekend events.
