Under the direction of the Director Pediatric Operations, this position will lead a newly established Pediatric Research Resource Office that combines the current ongoing efforts of three separate functions within the department of pediatrics: clinical research, basic science research, and research data/quality management. This leader will be responsible for managing under a single umbrella the full fiscal and operational activities for the research continuum. This position is responsible for the strategic development of the department in terms of growth in the research mission. This position will make decisions that will directly influence Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital in terms of rankings and national visibility. This position will prepare and successfully implement business and strategic plans to meet the overall vision of department and its leadership as well as evaluate the effectiveness of those strategies. This position will be the face of pediatric research for the Department of Pediatrics, and will be expected to be the senior expert in pediatrics on all COM research administrative matters. Additional responsibilities will also include managing and directing employees, dealing with HR issues and advising on conflict resolution strategies, developing successful relationships with senior leaders outside of the department and the institution (Vice Deans, leadership at UP, contacts within industry from which clinical trials are initiated, etc), utilizing advanced, professional communication skills in both verbal and written form, and dealing with complex situations that require providing clear and accurate direction or direct oversight. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire with the possibility of refunding.
