The Department of Geography at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, invites applications for a new faculty position in Spatial Data Science at the Associate Teaching Professor rank to teach and advise students for Penn State’s online geospatial education programs: https://gis.e-education.psu.edu. This is a 36-week fixed term multi-year faculty appointment funded for 3 years from the date of hire. We have a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent multi-year periods. We expect the candidate to have professional and scientific experience in geographic information systems (GIS), spatial data science, and distance learning. The candidate will contribute to graduate teaching and advising in geospatial technology and spatial analysis topics. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the administration and leadership of Penn State’s online geospatial education programs. Teaching responsibilities will be with Penn State’s online Master of GIS and Post-baccalaureate/Graduate Certificate programs, with opportunities to teach in other Penn State resident education programs based on expertise and program needs. A total of six courses will be taught each year, although a combination of course preparation, course teaching, and program administration tasks may be offered depending on program needs and candidate qualifications. This position is located at the University Park campus and the professor will be appointed in the Department of Geography.
