Description

The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking a Facilities Representative to serve as Building Coordinator for multiple facilities within the Plant Science and Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology (PPEM) Departments. Duties include: Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and multiple facilities within the Plant Science & PPEM Departments; Serve as 24/7 emergency contact for departmental facility issues; direct emergency maintenance and repairs for facilities; Serve as liaison with OPP for facilities maintenance, repairs and alterations; Monitor charges, work performed and investigate problems; assign charges to appropriate budget and coordinate payment with the departments; Primary point of contact for departments in coordination of renovation projects; Coordinate and process facilities project requests to OPP and communicate with project team members; Coordinate utility interruptions with College Facilities Office; Responsible for notifying proper personnel within the departments for scheduled and emergency utility interruptions; Maintain logbook of utility interruptions and work orders; Coordinate office, furniture and equipment moves; Work with incoming faculty, vendors, contractors and OPP, as applicable, to design, renovate and set up laboratories; Responsible for the coordination of purchases, installation, relocation, repair and/or storage of various types of equipment and furnishings for laboratories, offices, classrooms, etc.; Maintain and manage property inventory, submit disposition forms as needed; Serve as Departmental Safety Officer for both departments; Collaborate with College Safety Officer on all phases of safety for the departments to include but not limited to chemical safety regulations, building evacuation plans and complying with EHS and OSHA regulations; Coordinate and assist with annual laboratory inspections; Coordinate and maintain records of annual laboratory and research safety training certificates and self-inspections; Communicate safety related information to faculty, staff and students; Coordinate, collect and maintain all paperwork for compliance in departmental, College and University Safety Programs; Maintain building evacuation plans, appoint safety monitors, schedule mandatory building evacuation drills and assist with training building safety monitors for assigned areas; Coordinate equipment certifications and maintain appropriate documentation; Serve as Telecommunications Coordinator by initiating, updating and removing telecommunication services for departmental users and acting as main point of contact for IT needs; Serve as Access Coordinator for Plant Science and PPEM facilities by completing and approving key requests and card access. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Penn State systems, including SuiteReq/Maximo and Lionspace is preferred. Successful candidate must possess exemplary customer service and organizational skills and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working effectively with diverse audiences. A valid driver’s license will be required as traveling to departmental facilities will be necessary. Since this position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of the job duties, successful completion of a motor vehicle records check is required in addition to standard background checks.
