The research laboratory of Professor Sarah Assmann seeks to hire a Research Technologist. The successful applicant will perform laboratory research and organizational activities related to plant biology research. The Research Technologist will contribute to experiments in the laboratory to assess plant responses to abiotic stresses, and should be motivated to learn new skills. Lab work will include basic molecular biology and plant physiology techniques. The Research Technologist will provide support services to researchers and must have excellent organizational and communication skills. The Research Technologist will assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for lab operations to ensure the safety and efficiency of the laboratory. The Research Technologist will coordinate ordering, maintaining appropriate inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, labware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A bachelor's degree in life sciences or engineering is strongly preferred.
