The Office for Research Protections (ORP) is seeking an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Compliance Educator to design, develop, and deliver process and system training to the Penn State Health and College of Medicine human subjects research community. The IRB Compliance Educator will be located at the Human Subjects Protection Office (HSPO) at the College of Medicine and will report to the Research Compliance Educator at the ORP (located at University Park). The IRB Compliance Educator will work closely with the IRB programs and the CATS (Centralized Application Tracking System) development team in the Office of Research Information Systems. The primary responsibility of this individual will be to design, prepare, implement, conduct, schedule, and evaluate the effectiveness of the educational offerings for human subjects protections at Penn State Health and College of Medicine. This person will also perform internal quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the HSPO; this includes reviewing and confirming the accuracy of IRB/HSPO reviews, minutes, and other items as deemed appropriate. The IRB Compliance Educator will also assist in developing communications and outreach materials for the HSPO. Additional responsibilities include assessing future training needs and requirements; assisting in the development of system documentation, communication, and support materials; and serving as a conduit among end users, the HSPO, and the CATS development team. As part of the Education and Quality Management team, the IRB Compliance Educator will have the opportunity to contribute to additional educational offerings for the research community, such as responsible conduct of research, and may participate in special projects. This position will be located at College of Medicine and travel to other Penn State campus locations is required. Candidate will be expected to prepare a brief training presentation as part of their interview. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Training experience required. It is critical that the IRB Compliance Educator have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to summarize and convey technical information to a lay audience. The ideal candidate will have clinical research experience. Experience in research administration or regulatory compliance processes is highly desired. Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Proficiency with training development and delivery software such as Adobe Captivate preferred. Must have a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with high attention to detail. The ORP values diversity and inclusion.
