Description

The Department of Family and Community Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA seeks applicants for a Research Associate (PhD) position with a focus on primary care research. The Department has research expertise in Cancer Prevention and Early Detection; Health Services Research; Clinical Trials; Practice Transformation; Chronic Disease; Pain and Addiction. The Research Associate will work directly with the Department’s Vice Chair for Research, Dr. Aleksandra Zgierska, whose research focuses on innovative approaches to improving outcomes in pain and addiction, and reducing opioid-related harm. The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a candidate who will promote a collaborative environment as a member of the Department’s dynamic research team and who will lead the research team under the direction of the Vice Chair for Research; participate in the development of innovative approaches and methods to investigate scientific questions relevant to primary care and community health; assist with the design and preparation of research protocols and proposals, including clinical trials, according to Federal and Penn State University rules and guidelines; provide project and human subject research supervision and guidance to other investigators and staff; and report and disseminate knowledge through presentations and publications. The ideal candidate must have experience writing grant proposals, designing and conducting research projects, including clinical trials, developing research methodology, data collection and management, generation and interpretation of analytic reports; and implementation of quality control measures. The candidate must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both oral and written) skills. This position is a fixed-term faculty position for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
