The College of Nursing seeks candidates for the position of Simulation Lab Assistant for the College’s Simulation Laboratory at the University Park campus. The primary duties for this position include direct support for the Lab Director, Lab Coordinator, and faculty that teach in our nursing courses and clinicals in the laboratory. The person in this position provides college-wide assistance to any persons using the lab. This position ensures that the faculty and students are better equipped to use the full potential of available resources in the lab and prefers a person who has knowledge of basic medical terminology and medical equipment. This person will also assist in set-up and clean-up of lab activities and clinical sessions in the lab. This position requires a basic working knowledge of computers, and a strong preference with experience with audiovisual equipment and simulation recording equipment. This position will assist with IT support in the simulation lab with operation, maintenance, minor repair, calibration, and troubleshooting of manikins, equipment, and supplies in the lab. This person will assist with the ordering of supplies and maintaining appropriate inventory, reconciling purchase orders for lab supplies, laundry and sharps disposal, storage and maintenance of supplies as well as, lab equipment essential to the operation of the lab. This position will assist simulation facilitators with operation of simulator and AV equipment during simulation scenarios. This person will also be required to attend training for function of manikin technology, and to obtain CPR BLS and Heart Saver instructor certification. Work requires occasional heavy physical lifting of equipment. This position requires a person who can work as a team member with a variety of faculty, students, and other visitors in the simulation lab. May assist with other special projects or initiatives as needed, including data collection procedures and other duties as assigned.Previous experience in healthcare field, healthcare IT, and/or working with simulation equipment highly preferred. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and self-management skills, and accurate record keeping are essential. Hours may vary and will not exceed 24 hours per week.
