The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine seeks a talented, organized, and highly motivated individual to work as a research technician focused on providing support for the scientific work and ideas of a Basic Scientist Principal Investigator studying neurocircuits that regulate addiction-like behavior. Working under the supervision of this principle investigator, the technician will manage a mouse colony, perform genotyping experiments, ensure that the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced, keep up-to-date with technical developments and cost-saving measures, ensure that all lab members follow safety procedures and guidelines developed by the lab and by the University, train users in equipment operation and research techniques, and maintain equipment. Additionally, if desired, the research technician will have the opportunity to participate in research projects in the laboratory. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 1-2 years laboratory experience, possesses outstanding attention to detail, ability to work independently and with others, outstanding communication skills, strong work ethic, and is passionate about science. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
