A Postdoctoral research position is available immediately on the topic of Intermetallic Catalysis for selective hydrogenation reactions, working jointly in the groups of Professors Robert Rioux and Michael Janik in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. The Postdoctoral researcher will pursue experimental catalysis studies, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary group with expertise in density functional theory, data science and thermodynamic modeling. The project will involve synthesis, characterization and catalytic testing of intermetallics for their structure-function properties during selective hydrogenation. The candidate must have experience with synthesis (both bulk and nanoscale), characterization, catalyst reactivity studies and a willingness to work as part of a diverse collaborative team. Experience with synchrotron- and/or neutron-based experimentation is desired, but not a requirement. A Ph.D. in chemical engineering, chemistry or a related discipline with a significant experimental component is required. Applicants should provide a cover letter and CV. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Penn State’s College of Engineering strives to build a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for students, staff, and faculty. We rely on the expertise, sensitivity and commitment of an inclusive faculty to enhance diversity, seek equity, and create a welcoming environment within our community.
