Campus Recreation, a department within Student Affairs is seeking Facility Managers for Stone Valley Recreation Area. Stone Valley Recreation Area is 17 miles from the University Park Campus, nestled within the 7,000-acre Stone Valley Forest. Additional positions available at Stone Valley Recreation Area include Facility Attendants, Facility Supervisors, and Grounds/Maintenance Workers. Facility Managers are responsible for managing Stone Valley facilities and services when guests are on site. Individuals will provide coverage during overnight hours, and when needed for special events that go beyond normal operational hours. In addition to performing the tasks of a Facility Attendant, the Facility Managers help with the enforcement of Campus Recreation policies and procedures, as well as becoming familiar with Fish and Boat Commission, and Game Commission regulations. Main functions of this position include: Overseeing assigned area throughout shift, communicating with Facility Supervisors regarding any needs for their area, being the lead staff on the water for water rescue related incidents and acting as a leader for other staff members in their assigned area. Facility Managers must be Penn State students and have a minimum of one season’s experience at Stone Valley Recreation Area or two semester’s experience working for Campus Recreation. They are able to respond appropriately to emergency situations without the immediate availability of professional staff and attend monthly staff meetings. Must be a team player, willing to cover or trade shifts when necessary. Work hours vary including days, evenings, overnight, and weekends. CPR/First Aid/AED certification required or ability to obtain within one month of hire. Classes are offered through Campus Recreation on a regular basis. Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education Certificate or equivalent preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and have access to a reliable form of transportation. Positions are mostly seasonal in nature with the primary hours available from mid-March through mid-November. We build your work schedule around your class schedule.
