The Penn State Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center is seeking a Financial and Life Skills Associate to provide students with skills, knowledge, and resources needed to make informed decisions regarding financial literacy. The successful candidate will assist in the development and delivery of programs in a variety of settings including First Year Seminar classes and one-on-one sessions that provide students with financial literacy resources. In addition, the Financial and Life Skills Associate will assist with the planning, development, facilitation, implementation, evaluation, and administration of a wide variety of educational programs and initiatives to increase and enhance educational learning. Responsibilities include cultivating, developing, and maintaining relationships with faculty, student organizations, academic colleges, World Campus, and commonwealth campuses to support sustainable programs in financial literacy. Responsibilities also include training and supervising student peer mentors to achieve goals and objectives as determined by the Financial and Life Skills Center. The successful candidate will need to have a high level of respect for personal privacy and must be able to maintain professional confidentiality for privileged information, consistently demonstrate professionalism, have a willingness to identify and implement procedural changes to improve performance and productivity, have the ability to work with diverse populations. Must be able to use technology to deliver presentations. Review of applications will begin on January 6, 2020 and continue until the position is filled. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A degree in Finance, Personal Financial Management, Business Administration, Consumer Finance, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of Student Financial Aid and student loan repayment options is desired. Demonstrated experience and ability to conduct presentations on financial literacy topics is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
