The School of Humanities at Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a non-tenure line Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Media Production and Broadcast to start August 2020. The program seeks candidates with teaching and research expertise in media production studies, media in popular culture, broadcast, and sports journalism. Teaching assignments will include general education courses for first-year students (including mass media and society, cinema art, and/or graphic design) in addition to Communication`s program media production courses such as new media production, multimedia journalism production, sports broadcasting, radio reporting, etc. In addition the candidate will supervise student media production practicums: podcasting, streaming media and/or live-to-tape studio production. The minimum educational credential required for the applicant is a M.A. in Communication, or a related field, with an emphasis on media production and broadcast. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Mass Communication or Communication with a focus on media production or broadcasting are preferred. Degree must be completed by the time of application. This is a fixed-term, non-tenure track appointment with the possibility of reappointment. Full-time faculty normally teach four courses per semester. The successful candidate will have college teaching experience, media­ industry production experience, and a commitment to university service and public outreach. Previous experience in advising and mentoring students is preferred. A familiarity with a wide range of media production practices and tools is required.
