The Career Services Office at Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a Career Counselor. This individual will counsel students on job and internship acquisition, career exploration and career management to prepare students for their transition into the professional workforce or graduate school. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. Duties will include coaching individual students and delivering innovative classroom presentations and workshops for groups. The Career Counselor will be responsible for tracking student progress, assessment results and counseling goals. This individual will represent Career Services at events including career fairs, information sessions, and at programming stemming from purposeful partnerships. On occasion, these events may require some evening or weekend hours. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants should have experience with outreach to employers, alumni, and faculty/staff as this position will assist the office with cultivating relationships with targeted academic departments and student affairs offices. The successful candidate should communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Applicants should have basic technological skills and the willingness to learn new technology. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, polished presentation skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively within a team environment.
