Description

The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation with mission to reduce or eliminate barriers that lead to new expanded end use of Pennsylvania’s recycled items and materials. In this role, the RMC team brings markets development assistance to a near endless list of stakeholders including entrepreneurs, manufacturers, recycled material processors, recycling programs, haulers, and agency officials. RMC is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and has an affiliation with Penn State. The RMC is headquartered at Penn State Harrisburg with an office in Pittsburgh. Core areas of RMC outreach include feedstock conversion pairing, applied research and commercialization assistance; technology acceleration; and service as a network portal to technical or business growth information. The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center bridges relationships between economic development and recycled materials supply, expediting time-to-market of recycled-content products and related processes, thus creating circular economy in Pennsylvania. The successful candidate(s) will provide multi-tasked support at the RMC, for assistance in completing project(s) of our work plan. It is likely that more than one part-time position will be filled for various project purposes. The candidate(s) should have the following skills: (or at a minimum, have a willingness to develop): ability to conduct research using the internet, library, and other resources; possess literacy in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and email applications; be proficient at data entry; fluent communication skills and business etiquette, inclusive of a willingness to acquire information through phone calls and written communication; interest in sustainability, building circular economy, and materials management. Primary responsibilities of the Industrial Support Specialist(s) may include: assist in data collection and management related to electronics scrap recycling; evaluation of recycled content products databases; assist in markets development research; assist in life cycle analysis; assist in other outreach areas, not necessarily limited to social media platforms, contact management, and website management. It is anticipated your weekly commitment will range from 8-24 hours per week at the RMC’s Penn State Harrisburg location. The position(s) is available until supporting project needs are met and is subject to availability of funds.
