Description

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position to begin on or after January 2, 2020. The position will involve being responsible for supporting the ongoing research projects in the department. A successful candidate should have a strong background in biosensing and biochemical sensor systems design with demonstrated abilities to work independently, publish and organize research projects. The candidate is expected to contribute in the ongoing projects on wearable and implantable biosensors. The experience in designing and evaluating sensors for increased sensitivity and specificity is required. The candidate should have experience in developing microsensors, packaging and integration with data transmission systems. A strong experience in using cleanroom tools and sensor characterization methods is required to design optimized and efficient biosensors. The position is based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, working under the supervision of Professor Shashank Priya, and there will be opportunities to collaborate and interact with a broad group of faculty and students. It is expected that applicants will have completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field by the start of the position. Funding is available for one year.
