Penn State Shenango is seeking a highly organized, student-centered individual to serve as a full-time Career Services Coordinator/Adviser. The Career Services Coordinator/Advisor serves the campus community by providing a range of services and initiatives designed to help students adopt a strategic, proactive approach to their career development and to make meaningful connections between their academic and co-curricular experiences. The successful incumbent will provide individual career coaching to students, give class presentations on career development topics in consultation with faculty, and collaborate with campus stakeholders on career events. As the primary career services contact for the campus, there will be routine communication with employers regarding options for posting job and internship positions and other recruitment activities. Service on relevant campus and University-wide committees is expected and this position will continue to represent the campus in Western Pennsylvania Career Services Association (WestPACS). Reporting to Academic Affairs, this individual will also serve as an academic adviser. This includes maintaining a roster of students enrolled in the Division of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and playing a key role in advising related programs including New Student Orientation (NSO)-Advising. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, and engage with and support a diverse and inclusive campus population, including first-generation students. This individual will be expected to continuously learn new skills and adapt to shifting priorities and responsibilities. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are required. Established in 1965, Penn State Shenango is a student-centered campus located on 13 acres set in downtown Sharon, Pennsylvania. It is the only urban campus among the Penn State Commonwealth campuses.
