Description

The Solution Engagement Team in Infrastructure, a unit of Enterprise IT, is seeking a highly motivated and specialized Systems Design Specialist with a passion for providing professional customer service and operational excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent problem solving skills, adapt to and quickly learn new systems and technologies, and uphold a commitment to security best practices. Primary duties include: consulting with and responding to customer requests; Linux and Windows server administration; migration and management of virtual machines within VMware/ESXi environment; managing, upgrading, and refreshing software; following ITSM processes (Incident, Request, Change); collaborating with peers in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new and improved systems and solutions; and participating in continuous service improvement. Engagements often bring existing solutions into a new data center environment, therefore the successful candidate must have moderate knowledge of data manipulation via structured queries and regular expressions and automation (python scripting and ansible). Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Experience with network monitoring applications, switching fabrics and VXLAN preferred, as well as work-related background with enterprise LANs, authentication methods, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Layer 3 switching. Firewall administration and experience with the Brocade VDX/Juniper product line is desired. The required knowledge, skills and behaviors for this position include: collaborating with and supporting team members; strong verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and knowledge base articles; be proactive in providing superior customer service to groups that depend on the service; have a strong desire to analyze/diagnose problems, be flexible, and maintain critical thinking abilities under pressure; possess strong time-management and organizational skills. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
