The College of Engineering Advising Center is an innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative team that fosters networks of resources, guidance, and direction to students. We are seeking an innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative individual to join our team in providing academic advising to pre-major engineering students. This position is responsible for serving students in navigating their unique learning experiences and helping them to determine priorities for their resource needs. This individual will advise students about academic programs; assess other needs and make professional referrals; maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records; guide students in course selection and scheduling; resolve academic problems escalating unusual matters; and identify and monitor academic progress. This individual will participate in various college programs such as New Student Orientation, Accepted Student Programs, Spend A Summer Day, Major Nights, and group advising presentations. This position requires interaction with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members. This individual may also serve as a mentor to newly hired academic advisers and/or coordinate advising training and development. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with students in a high-volume center are necessities for success in this position. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
