Position responsibilities for this position will include: working with the Lancaster County 4-H Program Assistant, plan, deliver and evaluate day camp programs; working with the Lancaster County 4-H team, plan, deliver and evaluate Strawberry Roundup, 4-H Presentation Night and Family Farm Days animal learning center and educational displays; assist in the planning and implementation of summer 4-H educational programs and contests, including, but not limited to 4-H County Horse Shows, 4-H Dairy Roundup, 4-H Livestock Roundup and Rookie Workshops and 4-H Showcase; perform survey data entry as needed; serve as a member of the 4-H staff team providing support to the general 4-H program as requested; assist the Extension Educator in reaching new audiences in accordance with The Pennsylvania State University Affirmative Action Policy; observe the operation of the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office in Berks County and gain an understanding of this youth development career opportunity. The basic skills required for this position include: possess an understanding of youth development and be able to effectively interact with youth.; possess knowledge of educational principles and presentation preparation skills; familiarity with the 4-H Program is preferred; enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in education, agricultural science, engineering or other related field; possess good communication skills needed for group presentations and individual communication with members, parents, leaders, teachers and agency staff; possess organizational and record keeping skills; possess computer skills for creating documents and marketing pieces. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. The successful candidate will work approximately 40 hours per week for 12-14 weeks - May through August (negotiable). The pay rate is $11.00 per hour with mileage for travel reimbursed.
