Description

The Department of Biobehavioral Health in the College of Health and Human Development seeks a Human Research Technologist (Research Lab Assistant) to provide support to the Principal Investigator (Pl) and Project Leaders with research studies being conducted in the Sleep, Health, and Society Collaboratory located within the Department of Biobehavioral Health in the College of Health and Human Development. This position will be involved in all aspects of the research and be responsible for recruiting and screening research participants. Additional roles will include managing sleep and physical activity actigraphy collection supplies, ensuring the availability of functioning calibrated devices in a timely manner for all collection sites; receiving and transporting biologic specimens to lab for assay and managing data across several studies and collaborators. In addition, this position will assist with the following: the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures for maintenance and training of new team members, data collection, data management, and data analysis; the preparation and submission of presentations and scholarly scientific articles along with compiling documents for grant submissions; the analysis and preparation of data for further statistical analysis; and the submissions to Institutional Review Board. This role will also be responsible for maintaining the safety and well-being of the experimental subjects at all times, demonstrating professionalism and respect for subject rights and individual needs; and helping to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and best practices (federal, state, local, funders, university, and department). This job will be filled as a level 1, level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Basic knowledge of statistics and familiarity with statistical programming (SAS, R, etc.) is also preferred, but not required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
