Description

The Physical Security Office (University Police of Public Safety) is looking to hire a full-time Security Systems Administrator. The position will require experience with network-based security technologies which includes video surveillance, electronic access controls, and security/life safety alarm systems. Position will provide primary administrative oversight for video surveillance platforms, digital alarm receivers, and electronic access control systems. Oversight includes management of core system software and management of University staff that access electronic security technologies. Job duties include stewardship of Universities electronic security specifications and standards as well as administration of the core operational budgets and technology associated projects. This position will assist the Director of Physical Security with tactical and strategic planning and evaluation of security technology options for adoption into existing security best practices for the University. Other duties include design review, system commissioning, assisting with project management, providing technical support to the Universities Police Communications Center, and providing forensic investigative support to University Police and other security data users and requestors. This position will be based in the University Police and Public Safety at University Park. This is a full-time position that may require up to 10% travel. There will be an expectation to work events such as Penn State football games. The position will report to the Director of Physical Security and the primary office will be in the University Support Building 1. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. It is highly desirable that the successful candidate possess knowledge and experience with electronic security technologies including access controls, IP based video surveillance, and video servers. Must be proficient in administration, and analyzing/diagnosing of network appliances and have working knowledge of various operating systems. Experience with American Dynamics and SoftwareHouse security technologies is a plus. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to FBI background security checks.
