Description

A full-time Research Technologist 1 position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jidong Fang in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. The Fang lab conducts studies on sleep and behavioral studies using rodent models. The main responsibilities involve aseptic surgical implantation of EEG/EMG electrodes and intravenous catheter in rodents, sleep recordings, sleep score, data analyses, and behavioral testing in animals. The research technician will also participate in self-administration studies in rodents through collaborations with other research labs and be responsible for animal care and daily maintenance of the sleep lab. Prior experience in behavioral models and surgical techniques in rodents is essential. Additional experience in biochemical measurements (DNA/RNA/protein extractions, Western blot, ELISA, PCR), cell culture and other skills such as IV injection and blood draw are preferred. The candidate must be responsible, self-motivated, conscientious, flexible, a good communicator, and possess strong organizational skills. Preference will be given to candidates that possess the above skill sets. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or other related field and 1+ years’ experience. Please submit application, CV and name/address of three references.
