The Department of Mathematics is seeking a detail-oriented administrative professional to serve as the receptionist for the department. The Administrative Support Assistant will organize departmental colloquium, Marker, and Chemerda lectures. This involves preparing individual itineraries, publicity, and processing honorariums for speakers. This position is responsible for processing employee reimbursements, may reconcile purchasing cards (as needed), and scheduling, approving, and access to departmental space. The successful individual will maintain copiers and stock paper on each floor, take directory photos, and upload to website. Additional responsibilities include updating the departmental directory, room assignments, mailboxes, as well as processing incoming and outgoing mail for the department. This position will be the point person for ordering and inventory of supplies and equipment for the department. This position will serve as a backup for visa processing and conferences (as needed), may cross train with department staff and serve as floater for the department. The individual will also be responsible for advertising, hiring, and supervision of work-study students. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must be a positive, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment. A strong commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive environment is necessary. Attention to detail, flexibility, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to multi-task are critical for this position. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
