Description

The Information Technology Services Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking two experienced Systems Administrators to provide support and administration on classified and unclassified systems for our facility in Warminster, PA. One position will be responsible for computer services, and one position will be responsible for networks and servers. Responsibilities include: Administration of various operating system distributions; support server and network infrastructure; oversee the installation and configuration of systems to comply with Government regulations; implement system and software testing; respond and evaluate system and network security incidents; maintain and update documentation for systems and networks; evaluate potential equipment components and software; present system and network security principles and technology solutions to diverse audiences; routinely interact with other Information Technology professionals; and provide specialized guidance and customer support to ARL staff and customers. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, or a related Engineering/Science degree is preferred. Experience and knowledge with the following specific technologies is highly desirable: VMware; advanced Linux administration; LDAP authentication and management; Enterprise storage resources; systems management (SCCM, Centrify, Puppet/Foreman, Redhat Satellite); systems integration in a heterogeneous network environment; Active Directory/Group Policy; and high-level networking skills. Requirements include: A well-rounded skillset with a strong drive to learn more and receptive to constant upgrading of skills and computer related knowledge; the ability to work both independently and in a team environment to ensure highest level of availability and performance of our mission critical services; the ability to be flexible with rapidly changing priorities; excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; the ability to multi-task; and a good comfort level working in a diverse atmosphere.
