Penn State University Press seeks an experienced Journals Marketing Manager. The purpose of this position is to develop and implement a strategy for the Journals’ program to increase content usage, institutional print and electronic subscriptions, society membership, and awareness of PSU Press’s Journals program. The Journals Marketing Manager will work closely with Sales/Exhibits Manager, Publicity Manager, societies, Accucoms, JSTOR, Project MUSE, Hopkins Fulfillment Services, and abstracting and indexing services. This position will develop marketing plans for the journals program as well as individual journals, monitor web usage on JSTOR and Project MUSE, and make recommendations on how to increase usage. Additional responsibilities include communicating regularly with journal editors, working with societies to increase membership, ensuring proper web links are included on society websites and communicating with lapsed subscribers. The Journals Marketing Manager will develop strategies for increasing subscribers and readership and will keep abreast of new author tools, such as “AuthorMapper.” Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of scholarly journals and the evolving landscape of print and online publishing and be able to communicate diplomatically and effectively with all levels of personnel, including editors, societies, and coworkers.
