The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (, College of Engineering, is seeking multiple undergraduate engineering students for part-time positions to assist its group of professional engineers and building systems specialists in the evaluation of PA Army National Guard (PAANG) facilities throughout PA. This work is part of an enterprise-wide, asset management program required by the Department of Defense that uses the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ BUILDER SMS software as its solution for collecting and rating building assets. This position will provide a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable skills in building plan comprehension, structural and MEP systems operation, terminology, quantity take-offs, and BUILDER software functionality while maintaining their academic schedule. Multiple part-time positions are available throughout the spring 2020 semester. Compensation will be paid at $14.00 per hour. The work schedule is flexible. Students could work a maximum of 20 hours per week with anticipated hours ranging from 10 to 12 hours per week to accommodate academic schedules. Preference will be given to candidates that can extend this part-time position into a 40-hour per week position for the time period of mid-May to mid-August 2020. An excellent opportunity also exists for the successful candidates to maintain the position on a part-time basis during the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters, if desired. The position is based at University Park and will not require travel during the part-time semester work. However, the full-time 2020 summer semester work requires day travel throughout PA with PSFEI team members. Computer skills are required, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
