Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a diligent, organized, and highly-detailed individual who will manage academic enrichment, general, miscellaneous, endowments and restricted funds. As a team member, the selected candidate will be responsible for keeping organized and complete records to maintain a sufficient audit trail, as well as ensuring that proper accounting processes are followed. The Financial Coordinator will compile data for analysis and forecasting purposes as needed by the department as well as assist in developing the annual budget. Manage the post award administration for the department while ensuring compliance with University Policies and Procedures as well as applicable state and federal regulations, advise faculty regarding grant fund and departmental fund spending. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: compiling reports, approving Integrated Business Information System (IBIS) forms and Employee Reimbursement System (ERS) reports, reconciling purchasing card transactions, prepare and submit invoices for grants as needed, capital equipment inventory for the department, deposit incoming checks to ensure the correct cash handling process and work closely with departmental pre-award staff in the creation of budgets for grant submissions. Serve as a liaison between internal departments as needed. Develop and initiate process improvements. Train and assist departmental staff with University systems. Attend meetings as required. The ideal candidate will have outstanding oral and written communication skills; time management skills, the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners and a demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters is required. Proficiency with IBIS, Financial Information Tool, ERS, Excel, financial data tools is highly preferred. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
