Description

This position is within the Center for the Protection of Children (CPC) in the Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and will assist research team members with all aspects of a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) funded R01 examining family and home factors that influence emotional and behavioral regulation for children adopted from the Pennsylvania child welfare system. The main responsibilities include leading a study with a focus on in-home research visits and collecting data via parent-child interviews, subject observation, and child assessments regarding emotional and behavior regulation. Additionally, the hired individual will be expected to assist with recruiting and scheduling of study participants, maintaining subject/participant databases, and project documentation. The position will also be involved in the oversight of data collection forms, regulatory compliance concerns (IRB and HIPAA), and websites associated with the project. The position offers the opportunity to support grant writing and manuscript preparation. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires a Master’s degree (psychology, human development, or other related field) plus two years of experience. It requires developing high-quality research and the successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills. A strong background in working with children and families in an in-home setting and conducting human subject’s research is preferred. This position requires travel to and from locations throughout Pennsylvania. The base office will be in Hershey, PA on the Penn State Health Hershey Campus. This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
