Description

Penn State is seeking an experienced human resource professional to partner with HR professionals, supervisors, and managers across the University to align employee development initiatives with business and to drive continuous improvement. The position will support university leadership in identifying, prioritizing, and building capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes to enhance the organization. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing and delivering talent management initiatives, including those related to organizational design, leadership development, succession planning, change management, and organizational development. Other duties include ensuring that talent and organizational development initiatives support the overall business strategy and plan of Penn State, as well as within colleges, administrative units, and campuses. Working with HR teams to understand business requirements and to customize or develop programs is a vital part of this position. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with Human Resources Strategic Partners (HRSP’s) to build organizational bench strength and capability. Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to, serving as a consultant to Penn State leadership and HRSP’s on organizational challenges related to change management conflict management and organizational development, conducting needs analysis, evaluating opportunities, and ensuring efforts align with business needs. In addition, the successful candidate will complete organizational assessments using a variety of proven methods to uncover and solve complex organizational problems (e.g. change management, conflict management, processes, etc.) and contribute to new growth opportunities. They will also lead the development and implementation plan for cross-functional, strategic projects that build an engaged workplace and performance culture. The specialist will also be responsible for designing, directing, and delivering learning, organizational development and leadership programs, customizing and developing programs, and keeping current with trends and best practices in order to share information and insights with the HR team and customers. This job will be filled as a level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 3. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Master’s degree is preferred with 5-7 years of experience. Demonstrated competencies in the following areas will also be required: analytical skills, communication and presentation skills, teamwork, collaboration, strategic thinking, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
