Penn State’s College of Education at University Park is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the Dean’s senior leadership team as Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs. With a visionary Dean and a strong and dedicated faculty and leadership team, the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will build upon the College’s teaching excellence, experiential education, and community engagement to articulate holistic academic vision that celebrates the distinctiveness of our students. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will work in close partnership with the Dean to provide leadership and oversight of faculty affairs and activities that implement the College’s strategic plan and contribute to the college’s mission. As a key member of the Dean’s leadership team, the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will hold primary responsibility for all academic programs, program development, assist with assessment and accreditation activities, curricular review, online and hybrid course and program delivery formats, faculty development, and academic support services such as promotion and tenure and sabbatical leave processes. Candidates must possess a terminal degree and credentials appropriate for a tenured appointment as Full or Associate Professor (full is preferred, but an advanced associate on track for promotion will be considered). Successful candidates will have a strong record of academic administrative experience that demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and faculty success; support for shared-governance and collegial leadership; appreciation of Penn State’s land-grant mission of teaching, research and service to the university, college, profession as well as our communities; and a thorough understanding of issues and trends affecting higher education. Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior level officials within the College and University; ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressures.
