The administrative unit for the Departments of Communication Arts and Sciences, Philosophy and Applied Linguistics in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking a team player and organized professional to manage and maintain student academic and budget records for its Philosophy graduate program. This role provides administrative support for the department and graduate program, which includes managing enrollment and registration processes; coordinating committee appointments and candidacy, comprehensive, and dissertation defense examinations; and monitoring and tracking student academic progress. The position is also responsible for preparing new and renewal appointments of graduate assistantship or fellowship; tracking student departmental and external funding; managing admissions and recruitment processes, including creating and maintaining complete applicant files, fielding questions regarding the program and admissions, and planning the annual recruitment event; managing the approval and tracking process for graduate student conference travel and expense reimbursements; creating and maintaining spreadsheets to collect and analyze financial and student data for internal and external reporting; responding to inquiries regarding program and University policies and procedures; and resolving various issues. This position also provides secondary support in other areas as needed. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. University experience with LionPATH, the Graduate Admissions Decision System (GRADS), WorkLion, and iTwo is preferred, but not required. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. Excellent communication and organization skills are critical, as is a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with equal effectiveness. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, is required.
