As part of this mission, the unit of External Awards and Reconciliation in the office of the Bursar/Student Financial Services (SFS) is seeking a motivated individual to fill a full-time position as an Accounting Assistant 5. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining third-party contracts for scholarships and military programs; which includes assigning students to contracts, invoicing third-party vendors, processing payments, and reconciling any discrepancies. This person will also work closely with the Office of Student Aid and the Loan Servicing and Collections Team in Bursar/Student Financial Services acting as a liaison between these areas. The position also assists with analyzing and processing scholarship payments during peak processing times. The position will prepare journal vouchers, check deposit and check issuing forms as needed related to these programs. The successful candidate must maintain a high level of professionalism and ability to meet specific deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, strong organizational skills, and proven record of success as a member of a professional team are desirable. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration or related field is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software and knowledge of financial and student systems is preferred. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
