Description

The Northeast Center of Excellence for Pavement Technology (NECEPT) and the Center for Dirt and Gravel Roads (CDGRS) are seeking a motivated individual for the position of Education Program Assistant. NECEPT and CDGRS are centers under the Larson Transportation Institute in the Penn State College of Engineering. The candidate will be reporting to the NECEPT director as well as CDRGS director. NECEPT carries the technician certification programs and related training courses for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, in the areas of bituminous and concrete pavements as well as aggregates. The CDGRS provides a variety of classroom and field trainings to state and local governments concerning the maintenance of unpaved and low-traffic paved public roads. Duties that the candidate will be responsible for include database and website entries and updates to include processing course applications, payments, and technician information; logistical coordination for course sites, instructors, and updating training materials; facilitating planning and setup of training events; answering calls regarding NECEPT/CDGRS courses and related certification questions; processing correspondence and certification information to course participants; providing general program administrative support, and other duties as assigned. The candidate is expected to work independently and manage time effectively. Approximately, 75 percent of the support time will be allocated to NECEPT and 25 percent to CDGRS. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher , or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional specialized training beyond the high school level or completion of a formal high school vocational program or equivalent knowledge is desired. One year of related work experience is also preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills are strongly desired. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word, and basic knowledge of PowerPoint and website management is desired. Occasional travel, comprised of 5-10 overnight trips annually to assist with conference logistics, is required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of re-funding.
