The Office of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Business/Treasurer is seeking an innovative and versatile marketing/communication professional to lead communications efforts for key University-wide financial initiatives. This position is required to have strong writing, editing, and social media skills in order to create and manage content strategy across traditional and digital media, including project websites, blogs, social media, articles, press releases, e-mail listservs, and system-wide communications campaigns. Change management familiarity and experience, as well as experience working in an environment with large scale, complex organizational initiatives is strongly desired. Graphic design ability is a plus. The successful candidate is a self-starter who can work independently with little supervision, but also as part of a team. This role will impact a variety of diverse audiences across the University, including project sponsors, executive stakeholders, staff, faculty, and students. The Communications Specialist must have a strong customer service orientation and an understanding of higher education culture and constituent needs. This position also requires a thorough understanding of transition processes in order to build a strong communications strategy and plans for complex projects. The position reports to the organizational change management director, and works closely with project team members, sponsors, and stakeholders throughout Penn State. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills required, including a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in all its forms. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
