Description

The Penn State Survey Research Center is hiring a full-time Research Project Assistant to assist with the implementation of various research projects providing support to Project Managers to implement research protocol. This position will work across all modes of survey data collection performing a wide variety of tasks, such as recruiting and scheduling participants for studies, maintaining participant databases, quality assurance monitoring of interviews and data in accordance with academic research protocol, will provide new interviewer training and direct the work of part-time staff. The position is also responsible to assist with associated activities of large survey mailings including material preparation, processing returned surveys, logging returns and entering open-end data responses. Other duties include device testing of customized survey applications on smartphones and tablets used in research studies. General administrative duties include managing monthly equipment account billing, assisting with onboarding processes for part-time research staff including monitoring human subject requirements are met, ordering supplies, preparing and mailing materials for remote field interviewers and study participants. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants should enjoy working with diverse populations and possess strong interpersonal and motivational skills, and a friendly and professional demeanor. This position requires the ability to flex work time. Applicants must be available to work nights and weekends as needed, work well in a team environment, possess excellent time management and communications skills, strong attention to detail and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Bilingual speaking skills (English and Spanish) and/or previous call center experience would be a bonus. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
