The Ferrari Lab (theferrarilab.com) in the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (cidd.psu.edu) at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to lead research on a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funded project on spatial variation in seroprevalence for vaccine preventable diseases in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). The successful candidate will develop independent research and contribute to the analysis of data resulting from a large, nationally representative sero-survey for multiple antigens in a LMIC setting. This project will seek to develop analytical methods and dynamical models for assessing the spatial distribution of risk for vaccine preventable diseases and developing targeted intervention strategies. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as epidemiology, ecology, statistics, mathematics, physics), a strong interest in dynamical systems, a history of productivity. Familiarity with the R language is preferred, though the successful candidate will have freedom to develop analyses and models in the language in which they are most proficient. Experience in communicating quantitative analyses to a non-technical audience and experience working with large collaborative groups is an advantage. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of extension.
