Description

The Office of Student Aid at Penn State invites applications for a Student Aid Coordinator to provide excellent customer service to our students and families and assist in the administration of financial aid. As part of The Pennsylvania State University, our office is committed to ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the success of our office. We are concerned uniquely with the institutional change required for visioning and realizing a more socially just university. This position requires developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and University student aid regulations, policies, and procedures and contributing to the analysis of these regulations and their implementation. The Student Aid Coordinator will provide telephone, email, paper correspondence, and in-person walk-in advising to students/families regarding the financial aid process and related issues. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail are paramount to identifying and addressing processing and communication issues with students and their families, including professional judgement actions affecting their eligibility for aid. Partner with academic advisers in identifying and serving student aid recipients who are at risk of becoming ineligible for federal and state aid. Initiate proactive strategies to promote student success and timely degree completion. Work with other University departments such as Admissions, Bursar, Student Financial Services, Housing, and Registrar. Applicants must complete job application, resume and cover letter in order to be considered for further review of job position. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing, oral, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded with good possibility of re-funding.
