The Office of Student Aid at Penn State invites applications for a Student Aid Coordinator to provide excellent customer service to our students and families and assist in the administration of financial aid. The Student Aid Coordinator will provide telephone, email, paper correspondence, and in-person walk-in advising to students/families regarding the financial aid process and related issues. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail are paramount to identifying and addressing processing and communication issues with students and their families, including professional judgement actions affecting their eligibility for aid. Processing responsibilities may include awarding and troubleshooting federal, state and University aid programs issues, including grants, scholarships, work-study, federal loans, alternative loans, and support for aid eligibility related processes. This position will work within the Federal and State Programs Team to support the coordination of the Community Service Federal Work Study (CSFWS) Program. These responsibilities include assisting with marketing/promotional efforts; processing of CSFWS students; and communicating with the program’s stakeholders. The successful candidate must demonstrate a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences and capacity to support a working environment that respects differences in culture, age, gender, race, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is desired. This position requires developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all federal, state, and University student aid regulations, policies, and procedures and contributing to the analysis of these regulations and their implementation. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Excellent writing, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded with good possibility of re-funding.
