Description

Penn State Hazleton invites applications for a faculty position, Lecturer of Medical Laboratory Technology (fixed-term multi-year appointment 48 weeks - 3 years with option for renewal) to begin August 2020, or as negotiated. Administer MLT program and evaluate program effectiveness. Develop and teach a curriculum consistent with current clinical practices and accreditation standards. Recruit and advise MLT students. Participate in continuing professional development. Maintain NAACLS accreditation. Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Engage in activities to stay current in the discipline. Requires a Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field, current certification as MT/MLS (ASCP) plus 3 years of teaching and clinical laboratory experience. Knowledge of education methods, program administration, and current NAACLS accreditation procedures. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is required. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important. Students and faculty at Penn State Hazleton have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
